From federal legislative and regulatory issues, to state and local ordinances, to payor relations and public health concerns, external forces are continuously impacting your practice and your patients. Whether you are a solo practitioner, a member of a group practice or employed by a health care system, the Ingham County Medical Society is the only association focused exclusively on advocating for our local physician and medical student members, across a wide range of specialties. 

ICMS members know our patients, our community and our local needs best and we offer numerous opportunities for our members to share resources, discuss ideas and network with some of the most active and respected physicians in the state. ICMS has a direct line to legislators as well ICMS members serving on the Michigan State Medical Society Board of Directors and committees, American Medical Society delegation and committees and other leadership roles that advance the practice of medicine.

As a member, you are invited to attend quarterly Legislative Committee meetings which provide the chance for our physicians to meet face-to-face with legislators to directly address those issues affecting your practice and your patients. ICMS also hosts quarterly Practice Managers meetings as a forum for your staff to stay informed and collaborate on solutions for issues affecting your day-to-day operations.

ICMS also brings local voice to the state and national level collaborate with MSMS, fellow county medical societies, specialty societies and the AMA to address pressing advocacy, regulatory and practice management issues. We also take part in coalitions established to tackle issues such as reforming prior authorization and promoting physician-led health care teams.
